ASANASA is the final film in my Lost Leaders trilogy. (And in the suitably confusing style of NASA nomenclature, it’s also technically Lost Leaders #21.) Anyway. ASANASA is a trippy trip through the boys-own histories of rocketry and space flight, featuring spaced-out found footage and hand-woven film leaders. Completed in Dec 2019.
I’m incredibly grateful to Mr. Craig Baldwin for booking ASANASA for his end-of-year screening at ATA / OtherCinema in San Francisco well before it was finished. (Indeed, I didn’t even have a title or a duration back in March.) And thanks again to Jackie Gallant for her amazingly inspired/inspiring work composing the soundtrack. I hear the film was well received at OtherCinema last week, so I’m cautiously hopeful it’ll also get picked up at a festival or two in 2020.
