I’m delighted to have a chapter in Mark J. P. Wolf’s new edited collection The Routledge Companion to Media Technology and Obsolescence (2019). My complimentary copy just arrived in my mailbox and it’s packed with almost thirty essays on card catalogs, nitrate film, floppy disks, overhead projectors, Kodachrome, DVDs, and so on. My contribution, simply titled ‘Standardized Film Leaders’, basically picks up where I left off in my article in The Moving Image, and includes explorations of the ways countdown leaders have shown up in pop culture, from album covers to music videos. Congrats to everyone involved!
